No changes to save when running an insert in oracle forms to mysql

Hi ,
I am trying to write an Oracle front end using Mysql for the back end database. No insert statement will work. I keep getting an error that says "No changes to save". Even if I try to hardcode data into the sql statement behind a button it won't go but yet will let me insert at the mysql command prompt. There must be something in the way oracle takes the statement and gives it to mysql. I am missing something and don't know what. Know one that I work with can figure it out. Any ideas?
