ODBC and MS Access linked tables

Hello
I'm new in the mysql world and before I post this message I have search for previous postings about this problem. Therefore, my apologies if this as been asked before (I couln't find it).
Problem:
When I link MS Access 2000 via MySql ODBC 3.51.11, the datetime field appear as text inside MS Access. Since we can not change the field properties of a linked table, how can I make Access to read those fields as date/time fileds?
The issue is that I can't update any of those fields and I get the following odbc error:
"SQL data type out of range (#0)"
