regarding error [tcx][myodbc]client does not support auth

I just upgraded mysql 3.* to 4.1 and I am having problem connecting using the connection string
regarding error [tcx][myodbc]client does not support authentication protocol requested by server ; consider upgrading mysql client.
What do I have to do ?
I tried server different ways to connect but cannot connect using the string. I have no problem connecting from mysql bin or cmd prompt.
