help me with mysql --- joins

hai friends,

i am working mysql--crystal reports ....

can any one tell me that mysql 4.1.9nt works well ...... or i need to upgrade to newer version..

i want to work with joins .... this version allows us to execute queries with Outter Joins, Inner joins....

if so give me the full description .... plz .. if possible send me some example
