I have noticed this same problem with version 5.0. For some reason, the first time I connect, the connector tries to access my floppy drive. Walking through the code determined that this did indeed happen during a MySql process. After the first connection, or using 1.0.7, speeds are increased and no floppy access. I wonder what it's looking for.
