I had the same problem and this is how I solved it:
1. Uninstall any MySQL Connector or the VS 2005 Plug In
2. Reinstall the MySQL/NET Connector (version 5.0.2). You need to use the .msi file
3. Reinstall the VS 2005 plugin
and try again. This fix the problem for me
