Noob question: mySQL for Windows Desktop?
Date: November 14, 2008 02:06PM
I'm an old hand at C++, and an old hand with mySQL, but I have a customer with a request that takes me into unfamiliar territory. I usually write PHP scripts that run on a LAMP server and talk to the mySQL server there. My customer wants a Windows application that works on a database that lives on his Windows Desktop machine (I assume that this would mean a mySQL server running on that machine). I would like to write the application in C++. Is there a version of mySQL that makes this possible? I see Windows versions of mySQL, but I assume that those are for Windows servers, not Windows desktops. Apologies in advance if this is answered all over the place, but every search string I tried resulted in a lot of irrelevant hits.
