Problem in apache-python-mysqldb-mysql

I install the apache, pathon2.4, mysql 4 and mysql db on the Fedora core 4 system. the python cgi program which connect the mysql database with MySQLdb run well when I use python to execute it. but when I use internet browser to see the cgi program the exception information is " 2002, "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)") "
I just confused. The problem looks like that the mysql can not be connnect via apache.
Anybody can give me help?
