I'm using php 5.2.1 on gentoo with mysql 5.0.38 im getting the similar error when im connecting to mysql from a php script . Everything use to work fine while i was running my app on debian on a simliar setup.

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111
Anyone got any solutions , suggestions ??
