I have seen some slight increase in ping time from the client to the mysql server when these errors are occurring. We see ping times around 0.50 ms when it happens. But we have increased the timeouts so I feel that that should not be the problem.
But maybe it could have something to do with the switch?
I appreciate your ideas and comments regarding this problem.
