Ok very very confused now, I had a look again at my info.php file and it shows that the Mysqlnd is actually enabled, I have uncommented the necessary lines and yet still it doesn't work.

Any more ideas as to what I can try to enable mysql in my php build, I have installed Apache 2.4.4, PHP 5.4.12 and MySQL workbench.

I have created and populated a table in Mysql and now I want to test php to work with mysql.
