Advice?

I'm currently building a site, which is my first with PHP/MYSQL. Basically, I want to have a list of letters at the side to navigate albums/artists by their first letter. I wasn't sure the best way to do this with mySQL. How should I arrange my tables? Sorry for the silly question, but I've got to start somewhere.

To clarify: the nav menu of the site has three big groups of letters. They are to go to that letter of Artist, Album, or Movie. (It's a review site). Obviously HTML is out of the question, so I decided on PHP. But I'm new to mysql and figured it would work best. I'm not sure how.
