mySql w/out an API or extension?
My host is telling me that the only way to display, on a web page, information from the mySql database they provide is to use PHP, but without using an API or extension. To be fair, part of the problem is that I have what they consider to be a legacy account. I'm wondering if what they are suggesting is actually possible. Do mySqli and PDO actually add functionality to PHP, or do they technically just make things a whole lot easier and neater?
