Just to let you know I've fixed point 1.....

For anyone else who is reading this, if you vi your apxs file and make sure the first line specifies the path to your perl binary - then you'll find it all works as the reason its saying "not found" is because it cant find the perl from within apxs and not the apxs commond itself - thus leading to the confusion.

Any help with the make problems appreciated.
