I'm sorry to say, I do not get the question.
In *some* cases it is possible but *not recommended* to use a MySQL client library older than the MySQL server to access the server. If your PHP is using an old MySQL client library (e.g. shown in the phpinfo() output) consider updating it. Especially if you try to access MySQL 5.x.x with a MySQL 4.x.x client library.
