undefined function mysql_connect()

Hello guys
I installed apache2 and the newest version of php (5.1.2) on my pc. The version of Mysql is 5.x
When i start my scripts, there is a message error like "undefined function mysql_connect()"
Where is the bug? i think i looked up for every possiblity, but i didn't found the problem.
Who can help me?
