Just found the following thread. http://blogs.msdn.com/access/archive/2009/06/10/handling-the-sql-server-bigint-data-type-in-access-2007-using-ado.aspx (this is dealing wiht sql server, but seems to be a similiar problem there:)

In short: Access seems not to be able to process bigint types. so numbers of this type are cast as string, when having them in access. Please correct me if i am wrong.
