Database Administrator - DBA

We have an immediate opening for a highly technical, driven, proactive Database Administrator to join the
Operations team in our fast paced, dynamic environment. This person will become part of the team in charge of supporting Lyris hosting
infrastructure and will report to our Director of Operations.

Job Responsibilities

As part of the Operations team you will be responsible for the management of our production MySQL databases. You will monitor and ensure high availability and optimal performance for the databases. The DBAs are responsible for deploying and maintaining our databases, implementing redundancy, replication, scripting, schema changes, back up and availability strategies.

This position will also work closely with the engineering and the product support teams you will be called upon to directly manipulate data and for schema design and query optimization questions.

Hands-on - manage, monitor and performance tune production databases in our 24x365 environment
Provide on-call and scheduled support for the production service (including off-hours support as needed)
Develop and maintain operational tools and procedures.
Create and update technical documentation
Assist the Engineering team through analysis, design, programming, testing and deployment.
Support development, QA and production environments as needed.
Test and apply patches/updates and service packs


Job Requirements

Solid database knowledge
A minimum of 5 year of production DBA experience with MySQL preferably in a 24x7x365 environment
Solid knowledge of Linux/UNIX, CentOS preferred
Good understanding of scripting (shell, php, perl), usage of common utilities and regular expressions.
Knowledge of OS and database level accounts and privileges
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and to multi-task.

Extras:
SQL Server administration experience
Knowledge of MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Nagios, and/or Centreon.
Large amount of experience with any of: Perl, Ruby, php
Knowledge of mail systems
Experience with OLTP and data warehousing approaches to storing data
Knowledge of non-sql databases.

Education

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
