Position: MySQL DBA
Location:Austin, TX
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 2 Months to Direct (perm)
Pay rate: OPEN
Hours/week: 40 M-F 8-5
Desc:
Responsible for maintenance and enhancements of development and production database environments including feeds from various sources.
Responsible for data architecture definition for production system enhancements and new projects.
Perform database design, performance tuning, capacity planning, user management, and security management.
Responsible for replication code programming, backup and recovery plans.
Assist software developers to create tables and optimize database queries.
Provide 24/7 support to production systems by being on call/pager.
SKILL-BASED COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience desired.
5+ years of DBA, data architecture, programming, and/or systems experience.
Strong passion for the internet based technologies.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
DBA experience with Mysql and/or Oracle 8.x.
Experience as a DBA for internet applications a plus.
Experience on an Apache-Linux platform preferred.
General systems administration principles a plus.
ANSI SQL and PL/SQL development background
Shell scripting, J2SE and JSP development experience
