San Francisco: Lead MySQL/Oracle 10g DBA position with digital media company

Donnerwood Media, a digital media company based in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco, is seeking a Senior DBA to develop and maintain production databases for our upcoming digital entertainment service.

Responsibilities:
* Monitor the performance and proactively identify issues that may occur in the RDBMS using monitoring software or database administration scripts
* Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures
* Monitor daily backups
* Regularly schedule and test recovery procedures for disaster recovery
* Review selected application code, recommend changes, and adjust tuning parameters in the RDBMS to enhance its performance
* Evaluate and tune the SQL queries and physical database environments for efficient use
* Maintain databases for optimum performance (updating statistics, reorganizations)
* Develop and maintain database level security in all database environments
* Regularly schedule audits to ensure appropriate users/authority are in place
* Consult with application programmers and managers of other organizations to plan and schedule RDBMS implementations and upgrades
* Install, test, and deploy the RDBMS software with minimal interruption to services
* Create instances with the initialization parameters and database structures that represent database best practices
* Technical lead to manage the development and approval of physical database designs that will deliver optimum performance
* Develop efficient database design with recommended indexing, partitioning on supported database platforms
* Recommend and implement policies, procedures and standards for physical database design
* Evaluate database tools, manage capacity planning and forecasting and document/implement database best practices
* Provide database strategies including consolidation, change management processes, knowledge base development and database backup/business resumption recoveries

Requirements:
* A minimum of 3 years of experience as a DBA supporting Oracle and/or MySQL in a production environment
* Previous on-call support experience is necessary
* Extensive in-depth experience with RDBMS systems and SQL is required to perform complex analysis of application requirements, database design, develop monitoring scripts and tune performance
* A thorough knowledge of the RDBMS internal architecture is required for backup/recovery, and installations/patches
* Advanced knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating system environments
* Shell scripting experience is required and PERL scripting experience is a bonus
* Crystal reporting experience a plus.
* Change management procedures, capacity planning/forecasting and knowledge transfer processes
* Demonstrated experience tuning application performance at the JDBC level a plus
* Demonstrated experience in versioning and promoting schema changes through test environments toward a deployment to production a plus
* Demonstrated experience in planning and maintaining clustered RDBMS environments.

This position will require some after hours and weekend on-call coverage.
