'show create table' reports Engine=MyISAM for custom engine

I'm in the process of building a custom storage engine; my first step was to clone the EXAMPLE engine and compile. My custom engine is called 'FOF'.

That seems to work, but SHOW CREATE TABLE is reporting that the engine is MyISAM.

mysql> create table fof (a int) engine=FOF;
Query OK, 0 rows affected, 1 warning (0.05 sec)

mysql> show create table fof;
+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Table | Create Table |
+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| fof | CREATE TABLE `fof` (
`a` int(11) default NULL
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 |
+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)

Is this something that the EXAMPLE engine doesn't support either, or did I break something? Using my new binary the EXAMPLE engine shows the same behaviour.

Does anyone know where I would start to fix this issue?
