SUPER privilege and binary logging ???

New mySQL server is version 5.5.31-log set up by Amazon's AWS RDS offering.

I get he following error when I try to create a simple function:
Error Code: 1419. You do not have the SUPER privilege and binary logging is enabled (you *might* want to use the less safe log_bin_trust_function_creators variable)
I'm a newbie to mySQL. I'm having trouble figuring what to do about this. Do we disable binary logging? Do I somehow acquire "SUPER" privileges... and if yes how do we do this?
