SQL Server or MYSQL

Hello All,
We are developing an intranet application which will be used by our local employees within the organization. We are in the stages of dediding which database we need to use for this purpose. MySQL 5 or SQL Server. The intranet application involves basic stuffs like Timesheet maintainence, Memo's, Calender Events, Maintaining Resumes etc. Could you please suggest few ideas as to which database would be most effecient for this purpose and why??
