Roland,

By session pool I was referring to a sort of repository where all the @ user variables for all sessions are placed and where the total storage is carved up and dished out to the processes. When there's no storage left, the process waits until another process has released some. I get the impression though that mysql has no artificial constraints so if you want something you'll get it assuming your machine has the resources available such as memory, paging file, etc.
