Newbie here.

I am trying to figure the best way to monitor. I have done a lot of searching and see that there are third party tools. This outfit has MySQL running on Windows Server. They are running MySQL 8 Enterprise.

It's a small outfit and I'm dipping my toes in the water and would like to help and figure out how to monitor, improve things.

1) Does Enterprise include some tools, including monitoring tools ? It kinda reads like it, but at the same time it doesn't seem to EXCPLICITLY say this. They do not have any tools installed.

2) Are there good, free tools that would work well ?

3) and/or inexpensive tool.

Thanks for your input.

I'd love to be able to discuss some things verbally with an experienced MySQL(8) DBA for pointers, etc.. I learn so much better from real example at least.

I am working with some project which includes MySQL in it.I just wanted to monitor the metrics of MySQL like Memory usage,Disk usage,Network in & out etc or some other which are related to MySQL .
I am aware that we can use many application monitoring ,server monitoring, command line tools to get these metrics. i am wondering is there any way or option to monitor these metrics without using any tools.
If yes, can someone help me how to do that? that will be very helpful.
Hello,

We’re running MySQL Monitor 3.3.3.1199. The original self-signed certificate on our MySQL Monitor server has expired and I was trying to generate a new one using the instructions here:

https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-monitor/3.4/en/mem-ssl-installation.html

It appears the default keystore password is the empty string. Anyway, I’m able to examine the keystore using this command and entering an blank password:

$INSTALL_ROOT/java/bin/keytool -list -v -keystore $INSTALL_ROOT/apache-tomcat/conf/keystore

However, when I try to recreate the keystore with a new certificate with this command:

$INSTALL_ROOT/java/bin/keytool -genkey -keyalg RSA -sigalg SHA256withRSA -keystore $INSTALL_ROOT/apache-tomcat/conf/keystore -alias tomcat -validity 365 -keysize 2048

I’m unable to recreate it using an empty password, as the password must be at least six characters. Is there anyway around this? I’d rather not have to fiddle around with the existing tomcat configuration files.

Thanks,

Hi,

I was just wondering if there were any plans to expose more of MEM's functionality through REST APIs? The only reference I've seen in the documentation is specific to creating blackouts

Apart from installing an agent on a target and registering it with the monitor, it'll be nice to be able to manage events, metrics etc. via curl commands as part of automated build processes without having to go through the browser
I've been trying to find the way of seeing the execution plan of a stored procedure through MySQL Workbench and I was not able to do it.
I'm proccessing large XML files inside the procedures (with ExtracValue function) and I would like to see what's going on inside the procedure because it takes a long time to run.
If anybody knows any way to see what is happening inside my procedure, the run times of every call to the ExtractValue, I willl be greatful.

Hi All,

I executed the below step to recover one of the crashed table in my MySql Database, which is having 140 GB size.

mysql> recover table table_name;

It is running since 8 days...

Now, I want to know whether the query is processing in background or not and I had checked in PROCESSLIST, which is showing the TIME and STATE as Repair by Sorting.

Also, I had checked in Global Status, here I observed that, handler_read_rnd_next column is getting increased every time (approx: 9 crores).

Kindly help me to find out a way to check still how many records need to be processed

Thanks in advance...
Source Destination	Port
MEM Server	Agent server
