repair by sorting?

i am bulk loading a huge DB out of a local infile, about ~19 million rows.

I am loading this over a network connection using JDBC.

When I go to the machine the DB is loading on and bring up 'MySQL administrator' and
check under 'Server Connections', the 'state' says 'repair by sorting' for, as far
as i can tell, the entire load.

What does that state mean? I assume its not a bad thing because i've loaded several
tables (what i believe to be) successfully.

Anybody have any info for me? thanks!
