Multiple occurences of field in table

I'm very new but I've used single flat tables and now I want to have a table that has some fields that contain multiple values. For example, a table of clothing items might have multiple colors and sizes for shirts, and a different set of colors and sizes for hats. How do I set up a table that allows multiple values for some of the fields in the table. I'm using MySQL Administrator 1.2.12 and MySQL Version 5.0.51. Is this a foreign key thing or something else. Sorry for the elementary question. All help appreciated.
