How to start creating database..

Hello,
Im completely new to mysql... Ive looked online everywhere on info for learning how to create and maintain databases... I downloaded the mysql server and workbench... One thing i noticed though is that i didnt get the Mysql command line client.. Is this something that i need in order to creat databases? Ive see videos on youtube of people using it but i reinstalled several times and dont seem to have it... Any suggestions on what i really need to start and where exactly do i start? Im really eager to start learning and playing around with the database but really just need a push in the right direction... Thx
