Max Connections

Hi all,
When I first installed MySQL for Windows on my server, there was a dropdown about how many connections I want to allow. I set it low and now wish to raise it.
Re-installing MySQL isn't a option for me.
I assume the value is in the my.cnf I wish to set the max connections to 500.
Can someone tell me which line I should change? I did find a value set to 122 by something that appeared to be max connections, but I remember setting it as 75.
