What is MySQL?
I know what a DB is. I use and program in Paradox's ObjectPal. I understand Relational DB.s.
I like the idea of open source.
I run multiple queries based on tables with lot of calculations and stored variables and then place those variables in a table placed on a report which is update each time I run the program. I'm not sure but I believe that MySQL will accomplish this.
What about designing reports, forms, quaries, tables. Are they linear coded or object coded?
Is there a good book, not just on the theory, but the syntax also?
I see free download and then lots of licensing information.
I simply want to create programs for myself?
I see alot of talk about servers. Where is the data I use stored? I suppose my hard drive. Why then, or do I need server access?
Gosh, there must be a thousand questions I have. I looked in the Newbie forum but there are no answers to these kinds of questions.
Thanks . . . Rick
