Convert Time Zone

Hi,
i've a table with date colum.I'm trying it covert
select id,name,convert_tz(date,'UTC','GMT') from timezone;
THe result is NULL
Help Me.

My system time zone is UTC, can i know how to convet into IST,GMT Or any other time zone.
