Hi David,
I just found a similar thing on the net somewhere, I added export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/mysql/bin and it works fine now.
Very much a school boy error, thank you very much for replying to my post. I am glad I am not the only one up at this time (well I am on GMT) I guess your in the states somewhere??
