How to load database from a dump file

Hello all,

I used to write scripts for MySQL a few years ago but have not used it recently. Yesterday we received a dump file of our database from a third party software company and my manager asked me to restore it.

I have downloaded and installed MySQL 5.0.51a. I created an empty database and I need to load it up from the dump file. Could you please refer me to the command that I need to use. I think this is a fairly standard method of transferring data base information. I just have not done it.

Just in case this relevant, the dump file name is ourcompany_name.dump so I have created a database named ourcompany_name. I have opened and looked inside the dump file it is a bunch of scripts to create and load up tables.

Thank you for your help.

Leila
