Could someone post the successful solutions to this 'noob' problem for me? I've used the MySQL 5.1 installer on Windows XP SP3, then used the Server Instance Config Wizard. Every time it gets to 'security settings' it borks with the 1045 error. Same behaviour with OneCare firewall on or off.
