Just wanted you guys to know i got it working nicely.
I got 400 rows from a pool of 4000 items, 2000 articles, 4000 items->article -N:m tables and a few tags and values for them.
There were 2000 initial items after the join on the item_types, the attributes took this down to 400.
The time this took was 0.0041s (0.06s). (I'm using query browser, what do these values mean, either one can be longer so im quire lost with them).
As i told in my last message, i added a table item_types to my schema to narrow down things like Rick suggested.
