Hi there,

I managed to solve it. MySQL stores all databases created in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\data

The 'Application Data' folder is a hidden folder and one has to go to the control panel>folder options>view> select 'show hidden files and folders' options under the 'Hidden files and folders' option. The folder will than be visible and u can actually see the databses there in the form of folders.

I hope this is helpful for anyone who is in the same quandary as me.
