Rick James,

It works like a charm :) Now my server is running without any issues. Thank you very much for your help on resolving this issue.

*****You are running 5.0.27 (or is it 5.0.22 ?), so you are still restricted to *****4GB. "As of MySQL 5.0.52...". Thanks for pointing that out; I had not *****noticed. OTOH, "key_buffer_size=12884901888" -- maybe you do really have *****12GB??

My database size is around 280GB and many MyISAM tables have around 300 million rows and it will grow. The total MyISAM indexes size for my database is around 144 GB. And also my server m/c has 32 GB of RAM, so I would like to maximize the utilization of RAM. That's why I tried to increase it to 12GB. Is it make sense to increase key_buffer_size to 12 GB in mysql 5.1.40 ?

Thanks,
Ramesh
