thanks chad, you have been really helpful with me on this forum.

so having lots of null values in the one table would that be bad design? i started using multiple table for each product however i may require the user to add products themselves so might be best if it is just in the one table.

i also heard that having a holding table called "product options" possibly might be an idea to have along with the multiple products but was not entirely sure what he meant.
