hello,

I have installed mySQL 4.1 in my laptop. Whenever i open my windows task manager, i see mysqld running. Does it mean that i have a mySQL server running, or a service running? I always think that the 'd' in mysqld means daemon, and daemon are always services.

Can someone tell me the difference when i have my mySQL server running, and when i have my service running? I think i have my server running as i can enter the SQL command line, but i don't think i have my service running because when i start MySQL Administrator 1.0 plugin, it says that service is stop.

Thanks in advance for all the advice coming in.
