Hi!!
You need to save that Excel file as CSV..
When you select the database(phpmyadmin left frame..) & select the table for which you want to import into and the structure of that table is shown ..then scroll down to bottom you'll see the following link...
"Insert textfiles into table"
On clicking this will bring you a form allowing you to select a file, Fields terminated by(say , here), Fields enclosed by, Fields escaped byand Lines terminated by etc etc..
