Questions about using MySQL

Hi,
We are looking to use MySQL as the database for a business application we are building for a client.
The most important consideration for me to overcome before choosing MySQL is the issue of backups.
Can someone please tell me the best way to make backups of our database? We need to plan for up to 10,000 new records being created each day, so obviously the database is likely to get quite large.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
