Hello there,

First, I'm a complete newbie to MySQL. One of my friends once installed MySQL on my computer, but now that I really want to use MySQL i can't remember which password we've chosen. So I uninstalled MySQL and then re-installed it again. But know I get a message like this:

"The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error:

Error nr. 23
Can't connect to MySQL server on localhost (10061)

If a personal firewall is running on your machine, please make sure you have opened.....

If you are reinstalling after you just uninstalled the MySQL server please note that the data directory was not removed automatically. There the old password from your last installation is still needed to connect to the server. In this case please select skip now and re-run the configuration wizard from the start menu."

But I don't remember the password, that was why i un-installed it.

What can I do? I use MySQL 4.1.

I hope some one can help me...
