Is there a mySQL platform supporting Win 98 through XP

Hi Everyone...

I have been working on a project in Visual Basic 6 using ADO and MS Jet 4.0.

I am rather frustrated by the stability of Jet especially given the tasks which are pretty basic adding, deleting, querying records. About it. Not even a "remote" app, runs on plain vanilla home PC.

I am familiar with SQL but not very familiar with mySQL.

My question is this...

Is there a stable version of mySQL that works well with Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP?

There seems to be 14 billion different versions of mySql. Obviously I need an i86 32 bit edition. But, which edition works best and more importantly is STABLE across the 96,ME,2000 and XP platforms?
