Upgrading a database?
I'm a software trainer and tester, not a programmer, so please bear with me. We have a database that was created in MySQL 5.1. Performance is very slow for our beta customer, and it looks like a Windows issue; the customer is running MySQL from their Windows server. If we load up the same database on a Linux server it's plenty fast.
I'm trying to do some testing here and I'm wondering something. If I install MySQL Server 5.5 on a new machine, do I need to run mysql_upgrade before restoring the data created for 5.1 into the new machine?
