Slow access to large tables
I have an InnoDB table containing 80.6 million rows. Its Data_length is 40.6 GB. Just saying SELECT COUNT(*) takes 1 hour 16 minutes. Admittedly, it is stored on a USB disk, but I'm surprised given that there must be an index on the prime key that it can't answer this question faster.
Am I doing something wrong?
6GB RAM, Intel E6600 2.4GHz.
Windows 7 pro, 64-bit.
