Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Hi all

I have a webserver with 4 Joomla websites running (using mysql)

They have been working for years but since some days from time to time they throw an error sayign they don't have a database connection.

If I try to connect manually to mysql (from console) I get this error:

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

But if I restart my mysql server everything works again from some days.

Can anyone help me in order to avoid this error?
