Tips to close a reference book

Hi there, I'd like to try MySQL 5.6 (Developer). I've found a lot of material online, but I'd like to buy a book as a reference to have a trail to follow and not to waste too much time wandering online.

I've just found out a pair of books which could be good: "Oracle Database 11g SQL" by Jason Price and "Oracle Database 11g and MySQL 5.6 Developer Handbook" by Michael McLaughlin. I guess that the second one could be more usefull because it is explicitly written for 5.6 exam preparation, but I presume it could be more difficult to be read by a newbie than the first one.

Does anyone have any tip to help me in choosing between those books? Or others?

Thx a lot.
