Could be any number of reasons, but ...
Is the
logical content (table counts, row counts) the same? (I'd be
horrified if it wasn't, given that mysqldump is the basis of any sane MySQL Recovery Model).
If so, then it really
doesn't matter that the sizes of the data files containing those entities are a bit different.
