Did you even look at the link I posted?
It shows you how to reset root password when you don't know root password.
Imagine a company sacks their database admin. When they leave, they don't tell anyone root password.
How does the new database admin reset root password when they don't know the root password?
They would follow the process outlined in the refman.
So, give it a shot, and then come back to us with specific problems at specific steps.
