Uppercase names and lowercase names are different tables in *nix environment.
If your application, previously running in a *nix environment, used uppercase in names, then it will REQUIRE uppercase names in your new *nix environment.
If you have also created new tables with lowercase names, and haven't changed your application, then the new tables with lowercase version of uppercase named tables are redundant. They are causing no harm, other than taking up disk space for no reason.
